FEBRUARY 8, 2022 UPDATE

The House Environment and Agriculture Committee voted 17-0 to move HB1334 out of commitee favorably with an amendment to change the word “commission” to “committee.”

The bill will now move to the House floor for a vote. If it passes the House, it will “crossover” to the Senate and be scheduled for another public hearing.

Stay tuned for updates, including how the Committee votes HB1134 out, if it will move forward to the Senate, and how YOU can help with this and other campaigns in the Granite State!

JANUARY 18, 2022 UPDATE

HB1134 came to public hearing before the House Environment and Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Our Northeast Regional Manager, Melissa Gates, and volunteer Rise Above Plastics Campaign Coordinator and chapter secretary, Christina Dubin, collaborated to create powerful testimony to submit in writing to the Committee, which Christina then reinforced in person at the hearing in Concord.

Christina reports that testimony was largely positive and in support of the bill, and that the questions posed by Environment Committee members seemed to support the idea that a study on this issue would be beneficial for the State.

THE CAMPAIGN

HB1134 was introduced to the New Hampshire General Court for the legislative session commencing in January of 2022, proposing to establish a commission to study proper labeling of “disposable” wipes.
