Stop Surfing Ban at Matagorda Jetty Park in Texas

Matagorda County Sheriff's office announced that it will begin enforcing an ordinance enacted in 1991 that prohibits swimming and surfing within 400 ft of either jetty at Matagorda Beach. The ordinance was enacted over 25 years ago and not enforced until recently, and law enforcement will now ask people to exit the water in restricted areas.  The Texas Upper Coast Chapter, with help from the other Texas Chapters, is working to amend the order to ensure that surfing is an allowed activity.
